Throughout my career as a graphic artist and architect, I have looked for and created beauty in my surroundings. The results have been very varied and have included posters for theatrical productions, costumes, illustrations for commercial books, tourist leaflets and even wine labels. The Riviera and cities of Northern Italy have been inspirations for many Italian exhibitions. having met my future wife (painting together in Venice in 1993), I followed her to Cambridge. Based here since 1994, I have the privilege of having the magnificent architecture of the University on my doorstep – a wonderful inspiration for many artistic projects.
But I have also continued to go back to Italy and to hold private exhibitions there, culminating in a major exhibition in Venice 2004. I have exhibited in Cambridge as a member of the “Open Studios“, for a number of years, building up new contacts and clients. I have also had a successful exhibition of ‘Impressions of Cambridge’.
As a member of the Society of Architect Artists, I have taken part in a number of London exhibitions and become better acquainted with this unique city and its beauty.
From the sun and water ‘ Venice Impressions’ (2004) to ‘London’s atmosphere’ (2005) and the end of ‘Routemaster 38′ (2006), I try in my art to capture the soul of places.
Watercolour classes for charity at Selwyn College, Cambridge, have given me an opportunity to transmit my passion to many other people of all ages.
My works are on permanent display in London (Gallery 19, South Kensington) and in Venice (Galleria Santo Stefano) and exhibitions are in preparation in Tokyo and Shanghai.
My latest project was a set of sketches and views offering varied images of Queens’ College, Cambridge, which were put together in a calendar for the College.
